As we navigate our way through life, we are sometimes challenged in ways that we may have not previously imagined or experienced. Current coping strategies may have appeared ok when managing day to day stressors but now we may find ourselves overwhelmed and unable to cope.
Maybe it becomes clearer that unhelpful coping mechanisms really do not stand up to the strain of new challenges.
The support of a counsellor can help make sense of things and enable the development of healthy coping strategies which promote resilience, adaptability and a positive state of mental health.
In life-changing events, therapy can support you in adapting and in processing painful experiences.
'A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step'
The first step in asking for support might feel like the most difficult, but it can feel like a relief to know that you are starting to work through things.
Just as we can sustain physical injury, sometimes our emotional wellbeing can be affected by events and circumstances. My aim as a Humanistic Integrative counsellor and CBT therapist is to provide you with the space and time to work through whatever is troubling you, within a confidential and respectful environment and without judgement. Together we can work to help you find solutions and coping strategies to restore yourself to a place of positive emotional health.
I am a counsellor offering Humanistic Integrative counselling and CBT therapy covering Ferndown, Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole. I have experience supporting individuals with anxiety, panic attacks, depression, anger, phobias, bereavement, trauma, addictive behaviours, abuse, domestic violence, bullying, low self-esteem, personality disorders, self harm, relationship problems, Asperger’s syndrome, lack of confidence, substance misuse, self-sabotaging behaviours, parenting issues, stress and more
If you would like to know how I can help you, please contact me. There is no obligation for you to take things any further than that initial enquiry.
I offer a free initial telephone consultation where we can discuss your particular needs. You can get to know me a bit more, learn about how I can support you and make an informed decision about whether or not you would like me to support you in therapy.
During our first session, we would establish a mutually agreed contract for our work together. This will include an indication of how many sessions may be recommended based upon your desired outcomes. This counselling contract is flexible and regularly reviewed during our work together. Sessions last 50 minutes and usually take place at the same time each week, although I am also able to be flexible to your schedule where required.
I work with individuals on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period, with the aim of helping you to reach your desired goals.
I am a registered member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists and I work within their Ethical Framework. In my work with you I place great importance on respecting your autonomy and confidentiality, your right to be treated with respect and with your wellbeing as my highest priority. I commit to work with integrity, professionalism and sincerity. I also hold an appropriate level of insurance, available to view upon request.
